I have spent the last 17 years helping to educate and raise awareness with my fundraising of the breakthroughs being made here in Southampton. I have forged good relationships with the research  team and this spurs me on to help in any way I can.  I have been privileged to have seen the progress and how only a few years ago chemotherapy and radiotherapy were the only options.

 I personally, have seen massive progress with the new drugs available and we now look forward to the Cancer Immunology Centre, of which I am an Ambassador.  

The official fundraising name for this is just ‘University of Southampton’ but it is specifically for the campaign. Our charity number is X 19140, which is an exempt charity number as that is the status the University has.

This Centre will change the future of cancer science and working with one’s own immune system to eradicate this horrendous disease is quite honestly amazing. For me, having my family living on the doorstep of what will be a Centre of the Future in Cancer Research,will enable cancer sufferers the most advanced treatment and the next stage in cancer treatment. The contribution we have made, with the help of great friends and supporters, has impacted on the public greatly. Not only are we helping locally and nationally, but making a difference internationally, as we have played a huge part in the research in one of the leading Cancer Centre's of Excellence, in the World.

As well as the money we need to raise for research, we purchase much needed equipment, we support families and individuals living with cancer and we support and fund many local charities. Annually we take children living with cancer on board The Princess Caroline for a special trip kindly funded by owners Jay & Andi Van Den Hoek. A special day for the children where laughter is all you hear.  With special thanks to my Patron Sandy and Rhian too. Without our strong support network all of the above would not happen. We were recently told that the Dave Wellman Cancer Trust is a platinum donor and are the 5th biggest donor to the £25 Million campaign -Thanks to all my supporters. 

The amount raised from the Mayor of Fareham Charity 2015/16 -year was an amazing £13383 Thank you so much Mike and Ann Ford
