Story
Well, I did it! I was the Child Brain Injury Trust's runner for their sole charity place. It was a fantastic experience and I finished in 4 hours, 3 minutes and 16 seconds, so not quite at my hoped for target of under 4 hours, but I will try again next time!
My other target, that of raising £2,500 for the Trust has been met and exceeded - and there is still time to support this fantastic cause. I have worked in the field of brain injury for twenty years and see families struggle to find support, advice and information both at the time of injury when they are dealing with their lives being turned upside down, and in the years to come when they have to keep fighting to have the needs of a young person with brain injury understood.
If you would like to buy me a drink to celebrate my marathon result, don't. Please consider donating the price of a pint to the Child Brain Injury Trust instead!
I have been hugely supported myself in my training by family, friends, colleagues and the fantastic community of runners that is Portobello Running Club. Much love and thanks to all.
