Story
The grand plan...
90 miles along the Dartmoor Way within 36 hours.
Under the capable eye of John Peel, Chairman of the Royal Marine Association North Devon, support will be provided along with veteran and serving Royal Marines and my trusty family gang.
In aid of The Royal Marines Charity this is a recce for what I hope will become an annual event open to anyone wishing to enter.
How it came about...
Last year while completing the South West Coast Path I walked for ten days with veteran Royal Marine, Taff Davies, who yomped from John 'O Groats to Lands End, taking in the coastal path, in memory of his late wife.
Her Majesty's Finest, former and serving, Royal Marines and members of the Royal Marine Association North Devon supported Taff and were equally as supportive and generous with their help and encouragement to me and my team.
My allegiance with the Royal Marines does not stop there, they were formed as the Duke of York and Albany's Maritime Regiment of Foot in 1664 on the grounds of the Honourable Artillery Company, where I served for four years.
The Route...
Begin and finish at Okehampton Camp following the Dartmoor Way on a circular route. Split into 7 legs of walking each between 10 - 17 miles. Start 0700 15th September and finish by 1900 16th September.
