As some of you may be aware, Squidgers has developed a close bond over the last 12 months with the amazing charity 4Louis. We combined forces with them last year to raise money in memory of Emma, the daughter of one of our Squidgers families who sadly was born sleeping . With such awesome support from Squidgers folk and their friends and family ,we managed to raise lots of money and awareness enabling those families who have been sadly been affected by infant and pregnancy loss to get that much needed support at what I can only imagine is the most heartbreaking time you will ever go through. 

Just recently on our last volunteer day at 4Louis  HQ we were planning ahead for our fundraising event over the summer. The day was really inspirational , being surrounded by those who were happy to give up their precious time to help others was amazing .  Although the death of Emma was truly heartbreaking for all of her family, the positive outcome that followed was amazing and I think her family would agree helped them through such a difficult time. Still on a real high from such a lovely day the following day I received some devastating news from one of my Squidgers families. Becky and Rob, who's eldest son Charlie is on Team Squidgers, messaged me to let me know that very tragically their beautiful son Henry died the previous evening. They wanted to let me know that they had been able to use a 4Louis cuddle cot which had enabled them to spend some much needed time with Henry and also make some incredible memories with the memory box, also provided by the 4Louis charity. Utterly heartbreaking for all the family, you just don't think it will ever happen and the utter devastation when it does is , as I can only imagine , unbearable . They were extremely grateful that they had the opportunity to spend some much needed family time with Henry, and also make those precious memories to treasure for ever. 

Some words from Becky and Rob................

" At our 20 week scan we found out that our beautiful little boy was going to be born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, a condition that 1 in 3500 babies are born with. We were then referred to fetal medicine who confirmed the diagnosis and also found that Henry had two congenital heart defects, meaning he would need multiple surgeries at birth and into childhood in order to try and increase his chance of survival.
When our little fighter was born he was able to be held in our arms for 100 minutes before passing away peacefully in our arms. Thanks to 4Louis we have memories that we will cherish forever and we're able to spend irreplaceable time with Henry, making our grief just a little bit more bearable. "                                      

Becky and Rob asked if they could be involved in the fundraising this year, they truly understand the need for all the charity does and want to raise as much awareness as possible for such a worthy cause. It is an absolute honour to do this in memory of Henry . The charity 4louis work tirelessly to help all those dealing with the loss of a little one but also older children too . They not only provide memory boxes for families and to donate to hospitals  but they also raise money to purchase cuddle cots, cuddle blankets and more recently build bereavement rooms in hospitals . One of the things I mentioned is a cuddle blanket. The blanket is a lightweight portable machine which can be used in duvet covers etc which allows parents to spend more time with their loved ones. It really does make an enormous difference in the grieving process and helps families to heal. I mentioned to Henry's mum and dad about the need for these blankets and they would love to have a cuddle blanket donated in memory of Henry, so that other families are able to get that much needed time and support at such a traumatic time. 

So this is where we need a  little help. We are hoping to raise £5000 to purchase a cuddle blanket in memory of Henry.

We will be doing a sponsored swim later this year at Squidgers and we will be holding a raffle, coffee mornings etc. Please help us to help all those families affected by these issues and enable us to try and make such a heartbreaking time a little more bearable.
