Story
Sean worked for Reynolds Groundwork's for over 6 years as a site foreman and was highly valued for his loyalty and conscientious attitude to work. Amongst his peers he was greatly respected, trusted and a little feared (he couldn't stand a 'slacker'!).
For those who got to know him well, he became a valued, loyal friend who was always there for a chat and a joke or to lend an ear and some words of wisdom if needed. He made the best cups of tea and always had the biscuits to hand!
During his battle with cancer, Sean remained positive and strong throughout and never looked for sympathy or pity. He continued to work for Reynolds as long as he could (we said he was conscientious!) and maintained his positive approach to life. With Sean, the clouds always had a silver lining!
Meeting his family and friends at his funeral, reaffirmed all of the above and truly showed what a cherished, kind and special man Sean really was. There are so many who knew him that will all be left with a Sean shaped hole in their lives!
And for that reason we decided to do something to honour his memory, from us, his work colleagues, and will be walking part of Hadrian's wall (25 miles over 2 days) to raise money for St Christopher's Hospice.
Sean's family have a close affiliation with the Hospice where his sister-in-law was cared for before passing away 17 years ago, and the family still visit regularly. Sean himself was partial to a cup of tea in the day room (and possibly a biscuit or 2!) so this is the charity we want to support.
The Hospice does so much to support the patients and families when needed most, so any donation, however small, is gratefully received and in memory of a very special friend and colleague.
