Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Aaran and I am in my Third Year as a student at The Fortune Centre of Riding Therapy (FCRT). I am doing the Further Education Through Horsemastership (FETH) Course. Being at FCRT has helped me to be kind and to control my emotions better. Being with the horses helps me to keep calm and riding helps build my muscles and balance which I need to work on because of my disability - cerebral palsy.

Aaran has been chosen by Challenging Events to represent The Fortune Centre at their 5 mile run in Romsey. Two charities have been chosen by Challenging Events to be represented at this event and both charities have been tasked with raising a minimum of £200 on their Just Giving page. (We are thrilled to say that we have achieved this first target as of 08/10/19!) More exciting, however, is that the charity which raises the most money of the two will receive all the money taken on the day of the event from car parking, collection buckets and the bag drop. This stands to be a potentially large sum of money which would make such an incredible difference to the provision we offer at FCRT.

So, please, please sponsor us if you can and share with as many friends and family as you can, every little helps!

FCRT's mission is to enable horse-motivated students with special needs to relate more successfully to others and to have a greater and more appropriate control over their own lives. This use of horses, to enable young people to learn and develop, is the core of their work. It is the reason for FCRT's existence and has been their mission since the foundation of the centre in 1976. It will remain their mission and their unique offer as a specialist independent provider.

The FCRT works with young people's motivation for horses to harness the motivation to enable co-operation, communication and concentration. The FCRT works especially with young people with learning difficulties and disabilities, complex physical disabilities and with those from deprived inner city areas.
