Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
My name is Adam and I am looking to carry out a tandem skydive in September in an attempt to raise money for the spinal injuries endowment fund which provides for the spinal injuries unit based in Southport.
In 2002 whilst serving as a paratrooper with the British Army in Africa during a military exercise I was involved in a serious accident in which my parachute failed to open properly resulting in me being badly injured and was left paralysed and unable to walk properly for 6 months. As part of my treatment I came under the care of the spinal injuries unit at Southport and witnessed first hand the great work that they carry out.
I have been lucky enough to make a full recovery and live a normal life but would like a chance to help those less fortunate by assisting with funding the centre at Southport. Despite being an NHS centre they rely on funding to provide things such as equipment for the many extra activities that they carry out such as providing children with spinal injuries facilities to go and participate in sports and social clubs etc.
As you can imagine, the thought of parachuting again terrifies me but I am hoping that my story will inspire people to support me with their donations therefore I am willing to give it a go! (Surely can't happen twice???)
I would be eternally greateful for any donations that people can offer in aid of this great cause, wish me luck 😀
