Story
On the 19th of August 2014, aged 33, I found a lump, which turned out to be breast cancer. I have no family history of the disease so my diagnosis came as a shock to us all. My family and I were then faced with the rigours of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
I heard about the Willow Foundation during my treatment and had a fantastic weekend away with my family. Even now my children refer to that weekend as 'when mummy got better'! This simple comment from my children is why I want to be able to help the Willow Foundation to continue to provide special days to other young adults affected by serious illness.
I have decided to swim the channel to raise money for the Willow Foundation, I will complete the distance of the channel in a swimming pool (this works out to be 1482.46 lengths of a 22.8m pool) over the course of a month from 19th July to 19th August, finishing on the day I was diagnosed 3 years ago.
