I'm Carlos, a Brazilian that moved to the UK (Leeds) 3 years ago. I work with technology, UX design, and I really enjoy my life in Leeds, it's a great city with a lot of things to do.
I started to run in June 2018 in Parkruns on Saturdays. I was overweight and not doing any sports actually, by June and July I couldn't even finish 5K. But I insisted on that and in August I did my first 10K and then in October, I ran the Yorkshire 10Mile (also raised money for Mind). Now I lost the 15kg I got when I moved to the UK and I'm feeling motivated to keep running as my routine, so I'm challenging myself with the Yorkshire Marathon (20th October) next year. It is still quite hard for me to run long distances, but I joined a running club and I'm improving.

Mental health is a cause I support, I have colleagues and friends that struggle and I think things are improving in our society, I can see people talking a lot more about mental health problems and hopefully, in the future, we will not have all the stigmas that mental health still have today. I've been following Mind for a while and they do a great work and help a lot of people, so that's why I chose to support.
This will be my first Marathon and it will be a big challenge. It will be a good incentive to do this for a good cause.
