Story
'Four De France'
Wow we did it !!!
It was a-ma-zing..... really enjoyed it, the time spent with Colleen, Deb and Debs was very special. We had a lot of laughs and a few tears (me), I'm from Norfolk we don't have hills.
I have just sent a cheque to Alzheimer's Society for £495 making the total raised £1569.73.
A huge thank you to everybody who has sponsored me and for the fantastic support received.
Two very close friends have recently lost their Mums to Alzheimer's. I saw them battle with losing their Mums years ago, even though she was still living. Recently I have heard that Children can also suffer with Alzheimer's which I found to be quite upsetting.
When a friend asked me last December if I wanted to cycle London to Paris I found myself saying 'Yes'.
So In September 2018 four ladies, Colleen, two Debbie’s and myself will embark on our 287 (approx) mile cycle from London to Paris over 4 days.
Those that know me will know that a few years ago I cycled the Norwich 50 it started at Norwich City Hall, by the time I got to Exchange Street, (for those that don't know Norwich city centre its within half a mile), I decided I was not going to like the bike ride, by the time I hit 2 miles I definitely wasn't enjoying the bike ride and hated every mile of it, resolving never to cycle again.... but did the 25 mile 2 years later and quite enjoyed it.
So having said yes I started my training in February borrowing my Sons turbo trainer and road bike which has been set up in my conservatory and started very slowly both speed and mileage. I am happy to say that now the weather is better I now cycle out on the roads, 50 to 60 miles regularly and enjoy it.
I couldn't have done it without a lot of support from Andy (husband), Sons Tim and Ben for nutrition, training programme and cycle buddies, Adam Couzens for sports therapy, keeping my joints and muscles in working order and Ben Couzens, Broadland Flooring for cycle buddy and unofficial sponsors!
I will keep you posted on my training progress. If you would like to sponsor me I would be very grateful, any monies raised through this page go directly to Alzheimer's, if you are able to gift aid it that would be great also.
Finally my thanks to Colleen for taking me out of my comfort zone....
