Story
My brother-in-law was fun loving, an active family person who loved the good things in life and putting himself through serious pain competing in triathlons. He also enjoyed giving back to society and through his vision Eat Cake Tri Cycling was born. Shortly after the formation of ECTC Mark unexpectedly passed away before the vision could become reality.
Keen triathletes at Mark's club who enjoyed cycling, stopping off at cafes and enjoying homemade cake seemed to fit well with their training plans. Over these conversations the charitable element was born with the aim of raising funds for cycling related causes. A prototype cycling kit was developed with the aim of selling this with the profits being distributed to various charities. Stage 2 was to extend to other merchandise and seek to promote this in the cafes that we frequented.
Being a keen cyclist myself and enjoying challenges I am looking to raise funds for a charity which was very close to Mark, Cyclists Fighting Cancer. This charity was one that Mark wanted to support through ECTC.
I am looking to ride up 6 mountains in the Pyrenees all of which have appeared in the Tour de France. Not having scaled climbs of this height previously it is certainly going to push me hard but know in achieving the goal will be helping Mark's vision a little further.
I am are hoping to keep a blog going recording each days events with pictures. This can be viewed at https://www.eatcaketricycling.com/ . In addition the website will soon have the ability for you keen cyclists to purchase kit or you might even see it in cafes when you tuck into your espresso and cake.
Thank you for supporting me in helping Mark's vision becoming reality.
