My Mum unfortunately suffered from MS for over 18 years. At the beginning it wasn't so bad but it soon started affecting her day to day activities. This is because MS attacks the coating of your nerves and the damage disrupts messages travelling along nerve fibres all around the body. The messages can slow down, become distorted and may not even get through. Her MS escalated to a point where she could no longer walk or take care of herself without some help. I think my Mum battled through her MS like a champion. She has inspired myself and many others with how she coped each day. Sometimes, I would forget how poorly she was as she strived to be independent and keep going. The steady decline in her health hugely affected our family but we adapted together.  Towards the end of my Mum's life she still battled through her MS but what caused complications for her were the many colds and viruses that come around each year. Sadly, the MS damaged her immune system so much so that she struggled to fight off what would be a mild infection to most. 

I've witnessed first hand how MS affects a person and those around them.Thanks to research from MS Society I hope one day soon that this terrible illness is no more. In memory of my mum (Gill) we politely ask you to make a donation to support this research.
