Story
In what is quite possibly the least well-thought-through decision of all time, the five of us - by no means professional athletes - and some prone to dislocation - are running, slipping and sliding our way through Tough Mudder Midlands in May 2018.
We're supporting Nottingham Nightline, a confidential, non-judgemental listening service for students at the University of Nottingham. On a national and institutional scale, services like this are both vital and criminally underfunded. Allowing Nightline to train volunteers to help members of the University Community when they need a listening ear is fundamental for ensuring everyone can get the most out of their time in Nottingham, so we want to do our bit.
Over the course of our 10 mile ordeal, we'll face an awful lot of obstacles - from shipping containers full of ice water to electric shock cables reminiscent of a hoard of jellyfish - and an awful lot of mud (white trainers anyone?).
Please spare whatever you can to help this volunteer-led, compassionate service that does so much for the community.
...and if that isn't sufficient, the thought of Sam falling over is surely motivation enough.
Thank you!
