We provide a place of welcome & opportunity to enable the local community to thrive

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Helen Wright and I am an older person recovering from a knee replacement operation I had earlier this year. I am a supporter of the Dorothy Parkes Centre in Smethwick as it is such a welcoming & kind place to visit, a place where support, help, and advice is given, but above all a place where you can go alone and make new friends, improve your health profile and maybe learn a new skill.

This is not a high-profile fundraising event but is a heart felt attempt to raise money to help improve the lives of people within their local community as all people, regardless of age, race, gender, faith are welcome at the Centre with open arms.

I am intending to walk, or maybe limp, 10,000 steps a day, for 10 consecutive days, from 1st August to the 10th August. I will be accompanied by my cute dog, Rod, and I will post a copy of my step count online. I haven’t set a monetary target but I can assure you that every penny will support the Centre in continuing their wonderful work.

Thank you so much for helping this cause
