Story
Abit about the Charity - Rev. Frank Buttle witnessed the suffering of many children during his lifetime in the Eastend of London. He wanted to give them a better future. 65 years later, Buttle UK delivers grants through campaigns such as Chances for Children. These grants, averaging £1,500 in value, are designed to meet the multiple needs of vulnerable children and young people by funding a holistic package of support. They meet immediate physical needs by paying for household items, such as a cooker or children’s beds, and also meet a child’s longer-term educational and emotional needs, providing things such as course materials and after school activities.
About the challenge - Sue & Ian aim to raise a minimum of £1500.00 by taking part in the Italian Job charity run which involves driving to Italy in our 1990 classic Mini where we will take part in an 11 day navigational drive and treasure hunt. The theme is based on the original Italian Job film,. So everything from the classic and modern Minis, E Type Jaguars, Ferraris or their modern equivalent is welcome, last year even a Ford Thames dormobile took part.
We depart Folkstone on the 16th Oct and make our way down to Italy visiting iconic scenes on route arriving on 19th ready to take part in navigational trials when we arrive.
