Story

As a personal challenge, at the start of lockdown 2 (5th November) I decided to give up alcohol, initially for a couple of weeks but have since decided to extend it until the scheduled end of lockdown on the 2nd of December.

Those of you that know me well, know how much I like a drink both at home and when out so will appreciate how much willpower this is taking from me.  I tried similar at the start of the first lockdown but only managed about 2 weeks before I cracked.

So far I have been keeping this as a personal challenge and even Jo (and Josh) who has continued to offer me beers from the fridge when pouring herself the occasional wine or G&T didn’t realise what I was trying to do.  I am now more than 2 weeks in which is probably the longest I have gone without having a drink since I was about 16 - I nearly cracked last night whist eating a takeaway curry so have decided to go public with my challenge to help push me over the line and raise some money for one of our favourite charities whilst doing so!!

The charity I am supporting was set up by our friends Ben and Gaynor following the loss of their daughter, Kallipateira  in 2018.  We met Ben and Gaynor through our mutual love of Rhodes many years ago  and various challenges, way beyond my capabilities, that they have undertaken for other charities over the years.

The Kallipateira Moorhouse Foundation On October 26th 2018 our daughter Kalliapeteira was Stillborn just two weeks before her due date. As we held Kallipateira in our arms we made her a promise that we would do her proud and continue her legacy by helping to support other parents who have experienced the death of a baby/babies , and also to save babies lives by supporting research and through awareness in the UK.
