Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving Page.

My name is Leah Taylor. I work for British Airways as Cabin Crew and I am currently fundraising for the charity Dreamflight.

I will be operating down to Cape Town, South Africa on the 14th January 2019 with a British Airways 777 crew, both flight and cabin crew friends/colleagues will take the challenge that has been set to abseil off of Table Mountain which is currently the highest commercial abseil IN THE WORLD. I am very excited to be a part of this challenge and to have the opportunity to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity which is very close to my heart.

At the very same time I am absolutely TERRIFIED and feel a little bit sick every time I think about the challenge!! So, I am now going to ask you to dig deep and find what EVER you can afford, pennies and pounds all count to make a difference! I appreciate some of you will have donated previously to this fantastic charity, but again, I ask you for any donation of whatever you can manage to give.

For those not already familiar with Dreamflight, here is a little bit about the fantastic work they do!
Dreamflight is a registered UK charity that changes young lives through taking children with a serious illness or disability on a holiday of a lifetime to Orlando Florida.

Once a year 192 deserving children from all over the UK, accompanied by a team of medical carers, board a chartered British Airways flight and head to Florida to spend 10 magical days of fun and excitement. Many of the children could not undertake such a trip without the support of the army of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and non-medical volunteers who care for the children 24 hours a day. To give you an idea the cost per child is on average £3500 for them to have this amazing once in a lifetime experience.

Dreamflight is not just a holiday; it does something that medicine cant. The children leave their families behind giving them the opportunity to discover independence, confidence and a whole new outlook on life. Often for the first time, these children realise that they are not alone, and they are not the odd one out. They see children around them that have also suffered, they gain perspective and experience things they never thought possible. So, it really is letting them forget all that is heart wrenchingly wrong and enjoying what they should be doing: being children.

Thank you for your time and kind donation to this amazing cause.

Kind Regards
Leah Taylor
