Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Two serving and two recently retired firefighters are cycling from Mizen Head in the South of Ireland to Malin Head in the North and then on to Belfast during Mental Health Awareness week, 10-18 May. They're doing this to raise awareness of the high suicide rate in males aged 45-54 yrs and also general issues surrounding mental health.
The 'four fools in their fifties' as they're affectionately known, will cycle for eight days to highlight that:
- Life isn't over just because we hit 50
- Age needn't be a barrier in taking on a challenge
- Keeping active boosts good mental health
- Working as a team we can overcome major hurdles
Working alongside Mindwise and in partnership with Business in the Community and some of its members (Allianz and SHS Group amongst others) they aim to use this event not only to raise funds for Mindwise but also to raise awareness of the work they do in supporting people to improve their mental health.
