Story

The challenge involves summiting all 15 peaks that are over 3000 feet in Wales, this includes the Snowdon range, Carneddau and Glyders, in 24 hours. Aside from the height it involves covering approximately 30 miles all on foot. I will be doing this at the start of August 2018, the day will be chosen closer to the time dependent on weather conditions.

I am doing this in memory of my Mum who passed away on the 29th of June. Mum was a healthy, active and energetic lady who lived life to it's fullest.  In January 2018 she started to feel unwell and tired easily. What was soon diagnosed as jaundice, then became gallbladder cancer and the worst news of all, terminal liver cancer. We were told she had weeks, possibly months left to live. Just 16 months before this Mum was trekking in Nepal, just 7 months before she was on her annual trip to an orphanage in Uganda. This was a huge shock.

Mum lost her battle with cancer just 4 months after diagnosis. I have witnessed the incredibly tough battle with cancer and I have chosen to do this challenge in memory of Mum. I know this will be extremely difficult both physically and emotionally, but with the help of my partner Will and support of my family I am passionate about achieving this goal.

I am raising money for St David's Hospice, a local charity that provided Mum with weekly therapy sessions involving crafts, massages and lunch in addition to a medical assessment, all for free. She said they treated her like a queen! In her last few weeks nurses visited her at home and she was given her own room at the hospice for her last two days, where she received amazing care by their attentive staff. Annually the hospice costs over 3 million to run and 86% of that is reliant on fundraising. Please help me support their amazing work.
