Story
June 2016
On June the 20th last year I was given the devastating news I was diagnosed wtih oesophagus cancer.
July – December 2016
After dealing with the initial shock, disbelief and unnerving uncertainty - a tough six months followed with tests, chemotherapy and finally a lifesaving operation. Initial recovery went well, however some difficult complications followed a while after the surgery and subsequently several weeks of recovery in hospital.
January 2017
In early January of this year I was given the all clear!
June 2017
With the great support of my family, friends and the members of my running club, the Slinn Allstars I got through this very challenging 12 months.
I am now on the way to making a good recovery and started running again…slowly
I shall be running this year’s Great North Run for Cancer Research UK
I directly benefited from the fantastic research, knowledge and guidance provided by Cancer Research UK and with the pioneering surgery available – NHS and Cancer Research UK has giving me and many other people a better chance to recover from all forms of Cancer.
Therefore I ask you – to support Cancer Research UK – please spare any money, no matter how little so we, together, can beat this awful disease that touches all of our lives, family, friends - everybody.
Thanks for your help – Paul.
