Story
Hello,
I have wanted to climb Kilimanjaro for a number of years and now at 56 years old, I thought, no time like the present. So on the 8th October, I will be setting off on my little adventure.
Having seen my father suffer from the cruelty of dementia for the last years of his life I thought it fitting to combine my adventure with a little challenge of 10 press-ups at the top to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society who’s aim is transform the landscape of dementia through awareness, helping suffers and their families and also in research. Although dementia mainly affects older people, it is not a normal part of ageing. Worldwide, around 50 million people have dementia, and there are nearly 10 million new cases every year. Alzheimer disease is the most common form of dementia and may contribute to 60–70% of cases.
