Story
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is one very close to mine and my families hearts, since my Nephew Oliver was born with the condition in 2006. On many days it can be invisible to those who don't know as on the face of it he seems like a healthy teenager. However people don't often realise what daily battles he has to face with medication and physio treatments to help manage the condition.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting genetic condition affecting more than 10,000 people across the UK. It affects the lungs and digestive system and can cause chronic infections and reduced lung function. Currently, half of those with CF will not live past age 41.The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is fighting for a brighter future for people with CF and their families by funding cutting-edge research, driving up standards of care and supporting people with the condition and their loved ones every step of the way.
This will be my 4th London Marathon which I managed to secure with a good for age place from a qualifying time at Chelmsford Marathon 2018. So apart from a knee niggle that kept me from running Chelmsford last year, I know what to expect. 26/04/2020
The 24 hour event however is a complete unknown to me! I wanted a different challenge to really see how far I could push myself. It is a 5k course with the aim being to complete as many laps as possible in the 24 hours. I have no idea how far I think I can do at this moment and a complete novice to how much sleep, food, kit etc I will need. https://www.runorcycleevents.com/roc24-2020
