Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Evie-Mae was born 3 months early in November 2007, weighing a tiny 1lb 10oz and the wonderful team at SSNAP supported us and all the amazing staff who nursed Evie through all the complications and infections that followed.  Not only providing staff training and lifesaving equipment, but also the emotional support, endless tea and coffee and the toys for brother Thomas to play with on our daily visits to JR SCBU over the next 100+ days.

This is a huge challenge for me, having only started running a few years ago and a ParkRun (3 miles) being my longest run before signing up.  The Oxford Half is 13.1 miles!

Darren ran for SSNAP last year, so is hoping to beat last years time. He also has a lot of training to do to get him back to where he was then!

Any donation you can give will allow SSNAP to help other families like us, and sadly those who aren’t as fortunate as us.

Evie is now a happy, healthy 14 year old and not a day goes by when we aren’t grateful for SSNAP and everyone at JR SCBU 💜

In the UK, 1 in 10 babies need specialist care at birth. SSNAP supports sick & premature babies and their families in the Newborn Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Imagine your newborn baby needing specialist care at birth. Instead of those very special days getting to know your baby as a family, you’re catapulted into an unfamiliar world of incubators, wires, medical tests and interventions. While your baby has specialist treatment, we provide emotional and practical support to help you through the trauma & upheaval. We’re there to help families cope, and provide state-of-the-art medical equipment and nursing expertise that could save babies lives.
