On the 13th October 2019, I will be joining forces with inspirational women, from the UK’s food industry, to take on the Thousand Trees Challenge. We are uniting to support Farm Africa and raise vital funds for the charity’s work helping farmers across eastern Africa increase their yields and incomes.

Since 1985, Farm Africa has been dedicated to improving the lives of farming communities in eastern Africa, providing essential training to help vulnerable farmers make a sustainable living. During our challenge, we hope to continue their fantastic work. We will travel to Kanungu in western Uganda, to plant 1,000 trees on coffee farms in just three days. Coffee is Uganda’s most valuable crop, but many of those who cultivate it still live in poverty. It is time for this to change.

Coming from a proud British family business, I understand the importance of sustainability for future generations. Our work will combat the environmental challenges facing Ugandan coffee farmers and will help empower women and young people to ensure fair and sustainable farming. The trees we plant will grow to shelter the coffee trees, boost soil quality, and will provide families with additional food and income. As well as planting trees, we are also fundraising! I would love to raise £7,500 towards the team target of £75,000 in support of Farm Africa’s many innovative projects in eastern Africa, supporting farmers to lift themselves and their communities out of poverty.
