One cold December evening I asked my friend Sue if she fancied doing something crazy like swimming 1.5 miles in the sea.  She said yes! So after a pep talk from our friend Jenny (& now swim coach!) who said 'of course you can do it!', we set ourselves the personal challenge to swim the distance and for Sue to learn frontcrawl - no mean feat for two old birds!

On a more serious note the BHF is a cause that touches everyone for the fantastic work it has done to help save people's lives.  Our nephews, Thomas & Ben were both born with a heart condition that very tragically took Thomas's life in May 2014 at the age of 26.

This fundraising helps research and future developments that will continue to help Ben and others like him who live with a congenital heart defect.

For Sue, the BHF's great work meant her dad was given an extra 10+ years after a triple heart bypass. In this he was able to see his grandchildren grow up and make treasured memories that will last a lifetime.

With these charity events and the kind generosity of our friends, the BHF will be able to continue their fantastic research, care & support for heart patients of all ages.

It is with these thoughts in our minds that in July Sue and I will don very attractive wetsuits with a big smile (through gritted teeth!!) and put all this training to the test in the cold English Channel!
