Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have itchy feet again. There have been several cycling trips since the last 'biggy in 2015 when Andy and I cycled across America from Seattle to Boston adhering to anything other than a straight line route and covering 4,000 miles in 40 days in the saddle. The attraction to complete another long trip is strong, but with a different emphasis. This time it will be more a journey of culture and people with the added ingredient of wild camping.
The route will start from the most southerly tip of Europe and finish at the most northerly tip. Tarifa to Nordkapp, a distance of over 5,000 miles. And to satisfy my mountaineering desires, the route has been designed to take in ten of Europe's greatest cycling climbs. Such as Alto del Angliru and Cirque de Gavarnie. With the route passing though nine European countries, there will also be a variety of languages and cultures to enjoy.
It is a fact of modern life that so many of us are affected by cancer. My first wife, mother in law and other family members and friends have died from various forms of cancer. I am choosing to ride this wonderful trip through a large part of Europe. Both you and I can enjoy our lives, yes we can say, " but what awaits us around the corner?" who knows. However, whilst we have good health, let's enjoy it. Sadly those who have cancer are less able to do so and so often have their lives cut short. Please if you are in a position to donate some money to enable research to continue to find solutions to this disease, please donate.
Thank you for reading this and if you are interested I will be posting photos and a blog during the trip which will start appropriately on April 1st (All Fools Day!)
Best Wishes
Tim
