Story

WHERE’S YOUR HEAD AT! GET FUNKYABOUT DEMENTIA
by Kev Higham

Hi EveryoneFor my FABCHANGEDAY pledge  I will be
dyeing my hair various on the 14th October 2016 for a couple of weeks to raise funds and raise awareness to support improvements for Dementia Friendly Environments at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust,  in particular for the Care of The Elderly wards (ward 50/51).

You Can Help

  • through sponsorship donations
  • join in and colour your hair to raise greater awareness, support and donations (you can do this for one day, one week or whatever time you are happy with)
  • spread the Word

I hope to raise funds towards helping to adapt the wards and surrounding hospital areas at the Countess to support patients/carers/families/friends and staff. Aims include:

  • Dementia friendly redecoration of patient areas and day rooms
  • Sensory garden
  • Specialist mood Lighting
  • Signage
  • Adaptations and Aids

Also, additional links via the #Dementiado campaign and #FABCHANGEDAY to provide additional information about Dementia Awareness- busting the myths, what you think you know and the types of dementia people are affected by - as a patient, carer, family member or friends.

I am a Dementia Friend and work at the Countess of Chester Hospital and have been involved in and seen first-hand the fantastic work the hospital staff continue to do and support with limited resources and the impact Dementia Friendly Environments can have to benefit everyone. This important work continues and the demand for Dementia Friendly Environments increases. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

Why colour my hair? It reflects individuality and is synonymous with the individuality of the person with dementia who is still a vibrant interesting individual with their own unique personality - focusing on the person rather than the condition alone. The different hair colours used also reflect the different forms of dementia a person can have

If you want to join in, participants can either YouTube or photograph the hair colour transformations and these will be put on the Trust Website gallery.  Any fund raising from corporate sponsorship, these companies will also receive recognition for their valued donations.

SO COME ON PEOPLE JOIN IN! Be Brave! Be Outrageous! Raise a few Eyebrows!

Show your support for a great cause and the continued success already completed at the Countess Of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
