Hello! Thanks for coming to my page!

My name is Zahida and I am volunteering with VSO as part of the International Citizen Service (ICS). This is a (mostly) government funded scheme that challenges young people to push themselves, do great work and made an impact on the world. The scheme has 3 stages; the first is fundraising in order to support other volunteers in the future, and my target is to raise £800 by February!

So I will be doing a whole lot of fun stuff to try and reach my target and I would really appreciate your support. You will see me out on the street with a bucket, or selling/auctioning off cakes, henna tattooing and other things I have yet to think of. So please watch this space to find out what I am doing, where and when! 

The second stage is an overseas placement and I am being sent off to Kriate province, CAMBODIA Where I will be working closely within schools and the local community to support young people to develop student councils and improve their participation in school and youth networks. The ultimate goal of this work is to help youth in rural areas of Cambodia contribute to the economic growth and development of a country that has a lot of unrealised potential. (DISCLAIMER: Money I raise will not pay for my placement but will go towards supporting other volunteers in the future)

Upon return I will begin the final stage; action at home. Wherein I will use the skills I have developed and gained during this whole project to take action and make a difference in my local community.
