Dear friends,

********************************************************************************************

IMPORT ANNOUNCEMENT!

For a number of reasons I have to postpone this event until August when I'm back from India. Many thanks to those of you who have sponsored me so far and be assured that this event is still going to go ahead in some form before the summer is out.. it just means that I have more time to get sponsorship to support CINI's fantastic work in Bengal and Jharkhand!

Thanks for your understanding

-Sophia x

**********************************************************************************************

On July 3rd I'm going to be taking part in CINI UK's third annual sponsored fast to raise money for the charity's fight against malnutrition in India. I'm going to be going for a whole day without food - that's right, 24 actual hours- and I need your support!

CINI is an Indian-run charity that does fantastic work providing emergency relief for victims of malnutrition in India and working to promote awareness of good sanitation and nutrition practices. CINI uses local staff and volunteers, which keeps its overheads down, and is widely respected in the region for its expertise on mother and child malnutrition issues (CINI has provided training for CARE, UNICEF and CRY)

The sponsored fast has been a huge success the past two years, and it's more important than ever that you dig deep this year - rises in the cost of basic foodstuffs accross the road have hit rural India especially hard, and as a result more and more families are battling malnutrition.

Your donations really can go a long way - £50 is enough to nurse 15 severly malnourished children back to health, while £300 pays the salary of a trained local  healthworker for six months.

July 9th is the official date of this year's fast, but i'm doing mine before everyone else as I'm going to be away on the date itself and wanted to undertake the challenge back home, where friends and family can do supportive things like dangling tunnocks teacakes infront of me to see if I crack...

Any donations would be hugely appreciated!

thanks for reading,
