My story

Between the 13th and the 16th of September 2008; six triatheletes are undertook a Challenge  called Arch to Arc. We will ran from Marble Arch, London to Dover (90+ miles), attempted a Channel swim (completing 12 miles - 5 miles off shore/ 7 miles along the shore) and then cycled to L'Arc de Triomphe., Paris (200 miles). Negotiating white van drivers, extreme sea temperatures, french police at L'Arc, 20 mph winds, 8 foot waves, buckets of sick, Richard and Tim's snoring. And why to raise money for our chosen charities.

These people walk among you.  They are by no means elite athletes.  They are not Tee-total.  They do not exist on a diet of brown rice, pasta and performance enhancing drugs.  They don’t spend every waking hour training.  They have jobs, real jobs.  They have families.  They live in normal houses.  They don’t have live-in personal trainers or dieticians.  They are just people that enjoy a challenge and want to raise some money for charities close to their heart in the process.

You can follow our progress at www.Arch2Arc.net

We are raising money to charities close to our hearts, all the monies will be split three ways. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Bowel Cancer UK, Samaritans and BIRD will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

BIRD

BIRD is an independent charity which has existed since 1982 to provide its unique approach to the treatment of neurological impairment known as 'Developmental Reflexive Rehabilitation'. Being told that your child may have some kind of neurlogical disordercan be a frightening experience for any parent. BIRD may be able to help.
They treat people with Cerebral Palsy, communication disorders, autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and other neurological impairments.Removing the barriers to learning can allow a child to achieve their full potential.

Bowel Cancer UK

Bowel Cancer UK is a leading charity dedicated to raising awareness of bowel cancer, improving the quality of life of those affected by the disease and, ultimately, reducing deaths from the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK, affecting men and women equally.

Samaritans

Samaritans is a confidential emotional support service for anyone in the UK and Ireland. The service is available 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. "There's very few places you can go to in the world where you can pick up a telephone and another human being, no matter why they're doing it, will listen to you unconditionally. If you want to pour out in a phonecall, they will listen for hours."
