Right.  Basically, my dad (Anil Gandecha) and I (Anish Gandecha) are going to trek to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, which is 5,890 metres (19,330 feet).

    - It's not going to be easy. The training is tough, altitude sickness is almost certain and the weather at the summit will -20 degrees with gale force winds. (only 60% of people who do the trek actually complete!) It's something that we've always wanted to do and I think it is a great charity to do it for.

   - We have decided to put ourselves through this task to raise money for The Stroke Association. Both of my granddads suffered a stroke, and this is the main reason why we have chosen this charity

   - It is unbelievable to think that 150,000 people suffer from a stroke every year. That's one person every five minutes. It is the third biggest killer and the leading cause of severe disability in the UK. I'm sure that most of you will know of someone who has suffered from a stroke.

   - The Stroke Association is the only charity solely concerned with preventing stroke and ensuring that everyone touched by stroke across the UK gets the help they need. It is a vital charity and just small amounts can help the charity:

  • £20 keeps the Stroke Helpline open for an hour
  • £50 helps the Stroke Association to publish information leaflets
  • £100 or more can help fund research projects.

   - Before seeing the Stroke Association website, I just thought that the treatment after a stroke was the only important factor. This is not true. As you may have seen the recent advertisement campaigns (Think FAST), awareness is key. Research is also an ongoing process. The aftercare after a stroke is an extensive program which can only occur from local stroke clinics and resources.

   - You may either just know me or my dad, or both of us, but please donate.

You can donate money to us in person, or online, where we get another 28% via Gift Aid added from your donation.

-As we have arranged the trek independently, NONE of the money that you donate will be used for the flights or equipment etc...It will go solely and directly to The Stoke Association.

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Stroke Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!
