Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity fighting for a life unlimited, when everyone living with CF can look forward to a long, healthy life. www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday the 1st of August 2010, myself and Richard are cycling from John O' Groats to Lands End to raise money for cystic fibrosis. That is from the very top of Sctoland to the very bottom of England! It is going to be a very challenging journey and so we would appreciate any donation and it can be as little as you want! every little helps!

I am also running the Reading half Marathon March 21st 2010 for the same cause, so wish me luck!

My main inspiration to do this has been my best mate Rommers! Adam suffers from cystic fibrosis and i have always wanted to do something to help raise money for this charity. I met Rommers in school 5 years ago in a History lesson with enders. I didnt know who he was at the time but we sat next to each other in class. We soon became best mates! i think it helped us both being chelsea fans! Adam is an absolute legend and always up for a good laugh! Unfortunately Adam had to quit 6th form early and also had to quit his full time job due to his illness but despite his constant setbacks, he is still always the happy, loud and the funny Adam that we all love! The way he has dealt with his illness has been one of the biggest inspirations in my life and has made me want to help raise money for the CF trust.

What is Cystic Fibrosis?

  • Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases and affects over 8,500 people in the UK. Over two million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis - around 1 in 25 of the population. Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.
  • Each week, three young lives are lost to Cystic Fibrosis and around half of the CF population can expect to live over 38 years, although improvements in treatments mean a baby born today could expect to live even longer. The CF Trust is the UK's only national charity dedicated to all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis (CF). They fund research to treat and cure CF and aim to ensure appropriate clinical care and support for people with Cystic Fibrosis.

It doesnt matter how much but these are both two charities very close to our hearts and it is going to be an incredibly challenging journey and it would be nice to know we have everyone's support and feel good about the money we have raised. Thank you!
