Sparks is a charity dedicated to funding pioneering paediatric research with a single aim: Helping ALL babies to be born healthy and stay healthy. Sparks is the only children’s charity to fund research across the whole spectrum of paediatric medicine. Since 1991, Sparks has committed over £16.3 million to fund research into conditions such as childhood cancer, childhood arthritis, meningitis, club foot, cerebral palsy, spina bifida and all the risks associated with premature birth. www.sparks.org.uk

My story

Well would you all believe it, Gary Smith running the Flora London Marathon 2009. To those who have known me for years, this may be quite a shock, but believe me it's true. At almost 18 stone at Christmas 2007, I decided to make a change to my lifestyle. I started running in April, then someone suggested that I might want to try a challenge.

So in order to keep losing weight and getting fit I contacted SPARKS, the Stratstone chosen charity and had this mad idea!!

By using this justgiving website, it's easier than me going around with a pen and paper and the money gets to SPARKS quicker.

Please donate generously and don't forget to GIFT AID it. Details of the charity can be viewed from this site and I hope you all agree it is a worthy cause.

If you see anyone I haven't spoken to and they look like they may have a spare fiver then please collar them for me.
