Moving Mountains is a principled, well run charity which has its overheads covered by Adventure Alternative. It has fully operational, dedicated NGO's in Nepal and Kenya run by teams of local Trustees who have now been with us for over ten years. In Kenya we build, renovate and run orphanages, rescue centres, schools and clinics. We support street kids and their families with a complete, long term strategy of relevant developmental aid which links in with other local self-help organisations and is really successful! In Nepal we have built a hydro-electric power station high in the Himalayas, two monasteries and a school, and we support children with their education. We have also enabled adults to become self-sufficient through income-generating businesses and created a model green village. We make a point of inviting people to come out and help our work, and we now have nearly fifteen years of solid experience behind us. We are registered in Northern Ireland and accepted as a charity by the Inland Revenue under reference XR62512. www.movingmountains.org.uk

My story

This year I am back on Mount Everest for the 5th time and I am fundraising again for Moving Mountains which is doing so much good work in Kenya and Nepal. We don't get any grants and we don't have any overheads, so we're entirely reliant of wellwishers and public donations.

This time there are three options for helping with all the good work done by this charity:

1) Sponsor me online here to summit Everest and help us help others

2) Take up your own MyEverest Challenge, start your own justgiving page and set yourself a target of a minimum of £500. Then do the challenge at the same time as my summit bid in the third week of May! Let us know your challenge and we will promote it on Everest Post

3) Sponsor one of the four teams of Kenyans who will be climbing Mt Kenya at the same time as I am attempting the summit of Everest! Most of these Kenyans were once street kids and all of them have spent years now running our great operations in their own country, all to help others and to try and change their country. They're all very excited about their Challenge! They will be attempting the longest and most difficult of the routes on Mt Kenya from the Chogoria side and they have to carry all their own gear. Will they beat me to the summit of Everest?
