I'm Gerard, I'm 17, in sixthform college and have a passion for motorcycling. I have been aware of the fantastic work that 'Riders' does in Africa since Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's 'Longway Down' series which made feel that I wanted to contribute to their work out there. So, my part is a sponsored ride from John O' Groats to Land's End unaided, on my 20 year-old Honda C90 motorbike; including making it back home to Lancashire. In total I will be traveling 1400 miles, hopefully doing around 300 miles a day. My trip will commence on 10 July and take 3-4 days. I plan to sleep at youth hostels along my route but also carrying a tent as backup. I will be staying away from motorways, not just to enjoy the ride but to avoid lorries having to overtake whilst I'm flat out at 45mph!
