Story
Thanks for visiting our JustGiving page, where your donation will contribute to our research into gene and cell therapies for sight loss caused by age-related macular degneration (AMD) and diabetic eye disease.
The uncontrolled growth of leaky blood vessels damages vision in both AMD and diabetic eye disease, the commonest causes of sight loss amongst the elderly in the UK. Our research into these conditions has helped us develop gene and cell therapies for them, and with your support we can translate our laboratory research into safe and effective clinical treatments. More details of our work can be found on our website.
Scientific research requires significant investment, and we are seeking substantial support from charities and research councils. But we also need your support. Your generous donation – however big or small – will help us reach our goal of treating sight loss with gene therapy to control the growth of blood vessels. Currently we are seeking funding for an advanced microscope, allowing us to assess how well our experimental treatments are working in the lab. Your donation can help us invest £10,000 in this essential equipment.
Just £5 would allow us to detect how well our experimental treatments are working in the lab, using DNA primers in a test called PCR. Any support is warmly welcomed.
Any amount of money will go a long way towards fulfilling these aims – we appreciate all of your donations! Should you wish to discuss your donation, or set up regular monthly payments to support our work, please email eye.info@ucl.ac.uk or call 0207 608 7982
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to us and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
So please dig deep and donate now - we need your support to develop safe and effective cell therapies for sight loss caused by AMD and diabetic eye disease.
