Story

Hello there, thanks for stopping by and reading this, as it's not that easy to write.

This is not the first challenge I've undertaken for Steve Prescott. But it's the biggest. And it's the first one that I've not been able to talk about with him.

Steve Prescott MBE: exceptional rugby league player, astonishing fundraiser, the perfect family man, and loyal friend.

Steve died on November 9th 2013, seven years after being told he had months to live. Many people now know his story, and I want to help ensure his legacy lives on. That extra seven years saw Steve raise £500,000 for the charities represented by his Foundation. It also gave his two wonderful young boys the opportunity to see the qualities that are truly important in life.

He'll be massively missed, but never, ever forgotten.

So this challenge - The Steve Prescott 100 - is about Steve's legacy, and trying to help the Foundation continue to raise funds.

The goal is to run 100 race miles in 2014, centred around a first ever crack at the London Marathon. It actually adds up to 110m at the moment! The furthest I've ever run is a half marathon.

My race diary is:

March 2: Bath Half Marathon (13.1) DONE! 1hour 47. Cold and wet

March 9: St Helens 10k (6.2) DONE! 48mins. Hot and hilly

April 13: London Marathon (26.2) DONE! 4hours13 Sore and sunburned

May 11: Leeds Half Marathon (13.1)

May 18: Manchester 10k (6.2)

July 20: Leeds 10k (6.2)

Sept 7: Great North Run (13.1)

Oct 12: Yorkshire Marathon (26.2)

Thank you for reading, and for your support. Lets raise awareness, funds and let Steve's legacy live on x g

I never ever thought I'd run a marathon. I'm sore, sunburned, emotional but incredibly proud after completing the London Marathon. Steve was on my shoulder all the way. Overwhelmed by all the support and sponsorship. Next up the Leeds half next month

Saturday night. 22:50 and in bed with a peppermint tea. This time next week I'll be lying wide awake on my sister's sofa the night before the London marathon. Nervous already. I pray the body works next Sunday! The mind definitely will.

05/04/14 22:52

First two races done! Bath Half last Sunday: cold, wet and pretty miserable. But completed in 1 hour 47. Yesterday was St Helens 10k - a very special race as it was Steve's own - course designed by him too - that's why it was so bloody hilly and painful! Done in 48 minutes .

10/03/14 10:09

Race 1 completed. Sunday was wet, cold and miserable for the Bath half marathon. Thankfully none of my niggles flared up and I was able to get round in 1 hour 47. Now on to St Helens this coming Sunday

03/03/14 21:54

Managed 18 miles on Friday. Not a single second of it was enjoyable. Taking it easy this week ahead of race 1 on Sunday in Bath
