Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and thank you to all those people who have sponsored me so far. I wanted to add that all this money will go to FRODO as I have paid for my race entrance to the MdS.

I have completed the Marathon des Sables this April 2010,after two and a half years of training and constant thought. The MdS is often called the toughest foot race in the world. One can see why because the race travels across the sahara and covers 250 kms over 6 days. The temperature will be about 40 degrees or so during the day and then drop dramatically over night. To make matters worse competitors have to carry all their kit for the race, including the water for each stage. I finished the race on the 10th April, coming 326th, 4th British woman and 26th woman overall. I had an amazing adventure and there were hard times, but through determination and everyone's kind sponsorship and support I completed the race. It was just brilliant crossing that finishing line. Thank you.

I've wanted to do it for the last 15 years. I remember telling a very good friend of mine about this race and both of us saying 'yes that sounds great!' Both Bruffy and I completed the event. He now wants to do 100 mile race!

I've wanted to do this race for a number of reasons:

 i) to see if I can push myself to this extreme level both mentally and physically,

ii) to raise money for the charity F.R.O.D.O because of the support and hope it gives young disabled children,

iii) because my Dad said I couldn't, and

iv) because a dear late friend, Simon, was going to run the MdS and I have now got his place.

During the race and training I had to dig deep mentally, but all the support and sponsorship really helped me through the tough times. And there were many! But it was brilliant fun and an amazing experience that I'l never forget. I've written a brief summary of my experiences which you can find on my website at http://www.run.uk.net/trainingdiary.aspx .

Thank you for all your help and support.

Georgie
