My story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.  If you have taken the time to visit this page, then please read on, and help make a difference!

On 21st September, 8 Instructors from the GE Wing, Royal School of Military Survey, Hermitage will be running on behalf of our heroes in the Windsor Half Marathon.  The aim is simple - to help raise funds to improve the care and facilities available to our soldiers that are wounded on operations; an unquestionably worthy cause.  Although ambitious, we hope to raise in excess of £3000 for the charity ‘Help for Heroes’.

The runners: Mark Kieras, Adam Finch, Dan Faulkner, Kev Brixton, Rob Oliver, Dave Tyler, Tony Steel, Stu Carroll.

So, what is Help for Heroes all about? The answer is really very simple; It’s about the blokes, our men and women.

"It’s about Derri, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it's about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It's about Ben, it's about Steven and Andy and Mark, it's about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes"

Soldiers serve their country; they serve their people. However, in the line of duty, some are horrifically injured, becoming amputees and complex trauma cases. The least we can do is ensure that they receive the help, support and are provided with the rehabilitation facilities that these heroes richly deserve.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Help for Heroes gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please donate as much as possible and help make a difference to the REAL heroes.

Many Thanks for your support.

Good luck to you all and heres to raising lots of money! Donation by Helen Kieras 24/05/08
