Story
Would you spend a night alone in a Haunted House? That’s exactly what we intend to do. Five members of National Trust staff, 2 guests and a former guest medium from the television programme Most Haunted are spending the night alone at Nunnington Hall in North Yorkshire in late November as part of a fundraising venture to raise money for the National Trust’s public appeal to save Seaton Delaval Hall in Northumberland. The National Trust is trying to raise £6.3m within six months to purchase the important Vanbrugh designed Hall at Seaton Delaval together with its garden and 450-acres of countryside. The nationwide appeal was launched on the 3rd July to save the Hall and its surroundings and transform it into a major cultural centre, available to everyone.
Our team have come together from across the National Trust to spend the whole night in the haunted Nunnington Hall. The team consists of Simon Lee and Linzi Caton who both work at Nunnington Hall, Anna Hollingworth from the Trust’s regional office in York, Lauren Taylor from the Trust’s London office and Alison Dalby from the Trust’s Swindon office. The group will also be joined by two guests, Ruth Partington and the medium Joanne Gregory.
Will the team encounter the legendary ghost of the Wicked Stepmother who is said to walks the stairs and darkened corridors of Nunnington Hall? Will we be disturbed by the spirit that stops guests sleeping in the Panelled Room by rising up out of the middle of the bed, or will we get to the bottom of the strange noises heard around the building on quiet evenings? Will any of us have the courage to enter the haunted wood where people have seen the ghost of a woman that so petrified them, they fled in terror, never to return. You can sponsor us in our spooky quest to find out.
We have targeted to raise £2000 but don’t be scared to help us exceed the target! Please give generously - £1, £5 or even £6.3 million will all help. We are relying on nerves of steel to get us through this – please help make it worth our while.
