Story

My story:

My name is Gianina and I have enrolled to participate in the Bupa Great Manchester Run on 18th May 2014.

For the International Baccalaureate Diploma, students must complete a CAS (Creativity, Action & Service) Project, involving all three of the criteria.

For the Creativity part, my class has delivered an assembly at school to explain the prospects of this Project. We also asked students and teachers to (make a charitable donation and) sign t-shirts that we will be wearing for the duration of the run.

The Action part is the run itself, and all the training that comes before it. I have been diligently training every day after school, increasing my distance regularly. Although this event is a run, I have decided to walk the distance because I am simply not fit and I am not used to extended periods of continuous exercise. Therefore, walking seems sensible to me, and I think it will be achievable to complete the course without collapsing half way through, now that I have been training. For me, 10km is a huge distance to cover, but I am up for the challenge!

The Service part of the Project includes raising money for charity. I think this event is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness for the charities that my IB class has chosen: Mustard Tree and Save The Children. I really hope that I will be able to reach my goal of raising £100, but if the total eventually exceeds this amount, I will be overjoyed!

This is the part when your help would be massively appreciated, not only by myself, but by the whole of my IB class, and of course, the charities we are raising money for. I would be so grateful if you could donate money to support Save The Children and Mustard Tree, in aid of my 10km walking challenge. They are very worthwhile causes, and I can assure you that your donation will help make a positive difference to the lives of others.

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.

Important Note:

It is only possible to donate to one charity per page on JustGiving. I have set this page to send donations to Save The Children. Therefore, if you donate online, the money will go directly to Save The Children. I will be collecting sponsorship money for Mustard Tree in person, so if you give me cash or send me a cheque, the money will be sent off to Mustard Tree. I am still aiming to raise £1500 overall, and it does not make a difference whether you decide to donate through this page or in person. I will update the amount of money I have been raising offline, on this page.
