Josh, the boys and the Albin family would like to thank each and every one of you for all of your donations for such a good cause. We hope the rest of you will follow suit. Thank you very very much you have all made the trip worth while.
Over the next few days we will post all the pictures and the video footage of the whole trip.
Earlier this year our best friend Gil Albin tragically passed away. Not too long before he died he was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. For a long time his condition went unnoticed and neither his family nor his friends had any idea of what he was going through and how this illness effected him both emotionally and mentally. After leaving school Gil left to make a life in another country, due to this we had little contact with him but were lucky to see him on his last birthday. On 7 October this year he would have been 20 which is why we have decided that from Friday 8 to 10 of October we will be camping in the Lake District and ‘’attempting” to climb Scafell Pike – the highest mountain in England (978 metres – 3208 feet high). The hike will take us 7 hours over 14 km/9 miles in distance and we’re doing it!
Our biggest regret was not realising sooner how much he was suffering, unfortunately there was no way of telling because he hid it so well. This is the reason we have chosen to raise the money for the charity Equilibrium – The Bipolar Foundation. Our hope is to help others with this condition and make more people aware that illnesses are not always physical but are also mental and sometimes what you see is definitely not what you get. Please help us to help them. Thank you.
