Well folks, I have finally signed myself up to jump out of an aeroplane from about 10,000 feet strapped to a good looking hunky man (I hope!)
Weather permitting I will make the jump on Saturday 9th August with 4 lucky people there to witness it and make sure I do it...and the DVD will be evidence that I am smiling as I fall through the air!
All the money I raise will go to Countess Mountbatten House who really need all the money I can raise and have their 30th birthday appeal this year. The jump is already paid for as, concerned that I may back out of this challenge, Rich bought me it for my 40th
Your sponsorship will get me in that plane and doing the scariest thing I can ever think of doing! I need your support.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust General Charitable Fund - Countess Mountbatten House will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
I am doing this in memory of Chris and to celebrate his life. Please give generously.
Many many thanks for your support
Gill X
Update:
Well I finally made the jump! It was touch and go as to whether or not we would jump as it was very cloudy all day, but at the end of Bank Holiday Monday afternoon the cloud cleared enough to go up so it was all action stations (and not much time to think about it!). I still can't believe how calm I felt in the plane as I looked down on the world below! I was the first tandem jump out of the plane (I thought it was better to go first instead of watching everyone else). I cannot describe the feeling of falling through the air at 120mph with the noise of the wind blocking out my "oh my god!". The exhilaration overtakes any fear, I think my head couldn't quite comprehend what was happening! Once the canopy opened there was silence and you could hear a pin drop as we gently glided down to the ground. It was awesome!! Would I recommend it? 110%! Would I do it again? Absolutely! It was all over far too quickly.
Thanks to your help, I've raised nearly £1200 for Countess Mountbatten House hospice. Thank you so much to all of you who have donated. It has been a fantastic way to celebrate Chris's life and the money will make such a difference. And if you haven't donated yet it's not too late!
Thank you so much for all your support and sponsorship.
