RAISING FUNDS FOR PINCKNEY WARD, ST GEORGE'S HOSPITAL, TOOTING - JUNIOR GREAT NORTH RUN!!
WE DID IT !!!!
THANK YOU to everyone who supported and encouraged us.
if you haven't got round to it yet it is NOT TOO LATE TO DONATE!!!!
Pinckney is one of the children's wards at St George's, which cares for haematology, oncology and transplantation patients. They also care for acute and chronic infectious diseases patients.
We're raising money for Pinckney Ward at St George's Hospital. When Phoebe and Portia's little sister, Christabel, was 6 she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). Christabel is 10 now and she is fine but she was really ill and had to spend a lot of time in isolation on Pinckney Ward. All the people who looked after her there were fantastic but the ward often needs extra equipment not provided by the NHS to make it easier and more efficient to care for the children.
We are raising money to provide the ward with a "Dinamap" which is used to monitor a child's blood pressure, but it can also check their heart rate and oxygen circulation to find out about problems earlier. One machine which can check all three means that 3 different machines are not needed!
We have finished the Run and all did really well. It was terrible weather in Newcastle but the rain cleared up just before our race so we didn't get wet!! It started off with a fly past by the Red Arrows and then we started the race!!! We were glad we trained and enjoyed the race. There were 1600 children competing altogether and we all finished in the first few hundreds.
Jasper also finished his race and really enjoyed it and was especially pleased with the foil blanket he got. We all got medals at the end and were very pleased with them.
We are all hoping to do it again next year - this time in fancy dress.
Our original target was £1800, which is the cost of the piece of medical equipment the ward asked us for. As we have raised much more we want to buy them something fun for the children to use, but we will ask Sister Frances about it.
So PLEASE SPONSOR US GENEROUSLY BELOW!!
Thanks a lot
Phoebe, Portia, Lily, Ella, Lucy and Jenny
