Story

Hi A
ll,

Many of you fabulous people attended 'Let's get quizical' last year where we raised an amazing £580.. .This money was used to sponsor 2 students for the past year at The Umoja Youth Empowerment Centre in Arusha, Tanzania as well as to purchase books for the library and uniform items.

The time has come again for me to work to rustle up some precious pennies. This year, due to time and geographical constraints. I ask you to join me, to use the power of the internet, my brain and our collective willpower, to raise some more dosh. Here comes the science bit...

The idea.

In the 'crunch' days we are all pinching la pennies...Hoooooweeeevvveeerr...what IF you didn't have to actually loose any money to give to charity?

What's that I hear you yell...surely that's against logic, sense, and the well known scientific theory of having things?

NO.

All I want you to do is choose at least one thing to give up for one week during Feb. Work out how much this will save you, and then donate that amount to Umoja, RIGHT HERE.RIGHT NOW. Take my hand. It'll be fun.Charifun...maybe...

Pour example... you could give up that morning pick me up (coffee) and you could probably donate about £6. Or...you could simply give up your weekly mars bar and coke and donate a simple (but still very much valued) couple a quids...

Go as big or as small and can or are willing to go. Be creative, test yourself, set yourself that challenge, jump start your health routine or thrifty new year promise. (Say that bit in a Partridge voice please)

I'm going to kick start the whole affair by giving up the following things THIS week:

Bus home from work £1.20 x 5 £6
Yummy Deli sandwich treats £7
Fizzy strawberry laces 85p

£13.85

For the enjoyment of the many, list your chosen 'cut out' next to your donation and let's see how close to the £300 we can get...

I will be cutting out something every week in Feb so check back to see how we are doing and what I'm currently missing.

In conclusion:
In the words of Ramsay street....Givee itt a resssst mate
  (hmmm catchy)

***UPDATE***

I will be letting Timmy know he CAN still eat lunch...
