Our cycling event was to raise money for the brilliant EMRT who save people's lives, everyday, purely being funded by public contributions. Of course, if EMRT hadn't have been there on the day of my own accident, I wouldn't be here now and typing this for you! Please visit Our Main Site for details of the cycling event in May.
On April 14th 2010 whilst climbing at Birchens Edge in Derbyshire, with my friend Sam Littlechilds, I managed to smash my head very hard against the solid, gritstone rock on one of the climbs, resulting in an extremely serious head injury, which effectively killed me.......
With Sam's quick thinking, he organised a super-fast response from Edale Mountain Rescue Team, who saved my life, moved me to the top of the cliff and loaded me safely into an air ambulance helicopter, to be sent to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where I was given intense medical treatment and saved yet again.....
After a long coma, a craniotomy, a subsequent cranioplasty to fit a replacement titanium implant in my skull, I'm on my way back! You can read a full account about 'The Crash' on this page of our cycling event website.
And yes, before you ask, the EMRT 'Gave Me Wings' !!!!!!!!!!!
