Each year the employees of Gladman, along with their friends and family, undertake the Gladman Challenge. These challenges have, in the past, raised much needed funds for our chosen charity, the Donna Louise Trust.
In June 2008 they will be undertaking their toughest trial yet - “The Gladman Munro Challenge”.
The Munros are all the 284 mountains higher than 3,000 feet (914.7m), first catalogued by Sir Hugh Munro.
The Munros are susceptible to intense weather conditions. Even in the middle of summer conditions can be atrocious; thick fog, driving rain and freezing summit temperatures are not unusual.
Gladman’s Munro team will be attempting seven of these mountains over just two days, spending the nights camping in the hills.
Why seven peaks? The names on the list below may give you a clue:
Geal Charn (917m), overlooking theDrumochterPass
Carn Liath (975m), the smallest of the Beinn a' Ghlo group near Blair Atholl
Aonach Air Chrith (1021m), part of the South Glen Sheil Ridge
Druim Shionnach (987m), also on the South Glen Sheil Ridge
Creag a' Mhaim (947m) the most easterly and traditionally the first climbed of the seven Munros on the South Glen Sheil Ridge
Am Bodach (1032m), in the heart of the Mamores, part of the Ring of Steall
Na Gruagaichean (1056m), also in the Mamores
This is a colossal task that will require the highest levels of preparation, organisation and, most importantly, team work.
