My story

As many of you will know, our dad, Dennis Firman, died unexpectedly in January and we have been working hard to pay tribute to him, as he was a wonderful man and is very greatly missed. We consider our good friend, Ben Gladwell (aka Gladys), as an honorary brother and therefore we have roped him into undertaking some fundraising with us!

Those of you who know Gladys will remember his lovely long flowing locks, of which he is very proud... Well, we have persuaded him to have these cut if we raise £500 for the British Heart Foundation.

He is uncertain of exactly how much he will have cut off, but we are aiming for a grade 4 or 5. But he threw my suggestion of a grade 1 right out of the window, even though I said I would have it done as well. But I guess that is fair enough, as he does LOVE his hair. I am now going to have my head shaved as well, as extra incentive to get some more sponsorship!!

We have chosen this very worthy charity because dad died from a heart attack and we would like to hope that we can go some way to preventing another family from going through what we have.

The special occassion is going to take place on the 31/08/08, at Northgate Sports Centre, at the end of our final British American Football League (BAFL) game. We hope to see many of you there!

So, thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor: British Heart Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please make a donation now!

Many thanks for your support.

The Firmans and Gladys x

Well, the day has been, myself and Gladys are bald! Personally I think Gladys looks much better now. But I did fear for my safety from his mum and sister when he was getting his hair cut!? I am really pleased that we made the £500 mark, and  have now gone well over it. I am hoping that we might be able to break the £800 barrier. I am very grateful to the Cardinals team and fans at the end of season game where we managed to get an extra £138 to add to our total.

Again,  a massive thank you to all of you who have sponsored us, my dad would be proud.

Ben
