Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. Dystonia is a little known neurological condition affecting the central nervous system and consists of a group of related movement disorders, characterised by involuntary and often very painful and prolonged spasms of muscle contractions. Recent medical developments means it is now treatable, although it is not yet curable.
Like many of those running for charity, the condition has a personal relevance. My Dad has suffered from spasmodic torticollis (dystonia affecting the neck) for the past 4 years and despite dozens of injections and a recent operation involving DBS (deep brain stimulation) is yet to find meaningful relief. Like many other dystonia sufferers his search for a quality of life improvement goes on...
We are running for a dystonia charity: Action For Dystonia, Diagnosis, Education And Research (A.D.D.E.R.) - www.actionfordystonia.co.uk Because of dystonia's still low profile, A.D.D.E.R. are woefully short of funding to give the level of support they would like to sufferers of the condition. Please give as little or as much as you can afford. Many thanks.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: A.D.D.E.R. gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
