There are lots of reasons why I chose to support The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, from the support my family has received, to the high level of care, treatment and support they offer to over 26,000 people across the region.

As I say there are lots of reason and if you choose to help and support my efforts I’m sure you will have your own; but there is another over-arching factor in my decision to put Clatterbridge in front of other worthy causes, and that’s the way in which the money raised for the charity goes directly to the cancer patients in their care. Unlike some other charitable ventures, the Charity Team is small and bolstered by volunteers like myself. All the money they receive is focused on helping to offer the most up to date treatment, support vital pioneering research and provide life-changing support services that would otherwise be unavailable.

It's my belief that everyone is generous, but I know that finding the time to reach out and help others is always a challenge in a hectically busy world. My aim is to sacrifice my time and energy as a way of revealing the giving nature of others, others who want to make a difference to the lives of family members, friends and colleagues; others who want to make a real difference to those in real need.

In August 2013, I will attempt to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats (the two furthest points in Great Britain). With 1,000 miles (12 days) in the saddle to confront, and just over a year between now and the start line in Lands End; I am hoping, with your support, to raise over £3,000 for The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Under no illusions of it being an easy task and having to fit all my training in the saddle around my day job, I am looking for all the support I can get.
